The Supreme Court has extended the complete ban on firecrackers in the NCR districts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana until further orders.
A bench of Justices Abhay Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan passed the order while reviewing compliance with air pollution control measures in the region.
Earlier, the Court had directed the states to implement a ban similar to Delhi's, covering the manufacture, storage, sale, and use of firecrackers. Compliance will be reviewed on March 24, 2025.
The Court emphasized the need for stricter measures to address pollution, stating that harsh decisions are necessary in environmental matters.
