Supreme Court Flags Concerns Over Delhi High Court’s Senior Designation Committee

  • Case Name: Raman Alias Raman Gandhi v. Registrar General, HC of Delhi
  • Judge(s): Justice Abhay Oka & Ujjal Bhuyan

The Supreme Court questioned Delhi High Court’s permanent committee for designating Senior Advocates which is limited to awarding points as per Indira Jaising's judgment and cannot extend to making recommendations.

The petition challenged the designation of 70 lawyers with irregularities and alleged that the Senior Adv. Sudhir Nandrajog did not consult with permanent committee members before finalizing the list.

Therefore, the court flagged that the committee’s composition was inconsistent with Indira Jaising’s judgment.

The court directed Delhi HC to submit its response and the matter will be heard after receiving Nandrajog’s affidavit.
