On December 11, 2024, SC formed a committee to address the issue of regulated vehicle access for devotees visiting the Pandupol Hanuman temple in Rajasthan’s Sariska tiger reserve.
The Hanuman Temple Committee requested relaxed restrictions on private vehicles, but the Central Empowered Committee (CEC) proposed a ban, suggesting electric shuttle buses to be used instead.
In response, the court formed a committee comprising the Sariska District Collector, the Field Director of Project Tiger, and Central Empowered Committee (CEC) members to devise a solution.
It also deemed the CEC’s implementation deadlines impractical and allowed extensions for a balanced resolution.
