Supreme Court Orders a 6-Week Nationwide Survey to Check POSH Act Compliance in All Workplaces

The Supreme Court has ordered all States and Union Territories to complete, within six weeks, a district-wise survey on the constitution of Internal Committees under the POSH Act in every government and private institution.

Labour Commissioners and Chief Labour Officers must supply registration data to Deputy Commissioners for verification. Non-compliance may lead to suspension of business licences. The move follows poor implementation, with only Andaman & Nicobar completing the survey.

The Court reiterated its 2024 directives on forming Local and Internal Committees, appointing District Officers, and uploading data on the SheBox portal.

The matter is listed for further hearing on October 14, 2025.
