Supreme Court Orders Demolition of Illegal Structures in Okhla Village Delhi

The Supreme Court has directed the Delhi Development Authority and the Delhi government to demolish illegal constructions spread over 2 bighas and 10 biswas of public land in Khasra No. 279, Okhla Village, within 3 months.

A 15-day advance notice must be served to affected individuals before demolition.

The demolition excludes land under the PM-UDAY scheme. The Court took suo motu cognizance after a contempt plea alleged violation of the Court's 2018 orders in MC Mehta v. Union of India.

Referring to Articles 21 and 300A and the PM-UDAY Regulations, 2019, the Court emphasized lawful possession and due process. The next hearing is scheduled for July 30, 2025.
