Supreme Court Directs High Courts to Upload Full Judgments Without Delay After Pronouncing Orders

The Supreme Court has directed all High Courts to ensure that full judgments are promptly uploaded after announcing the operative portion of an order, stressing that delays create uncertainty and undermine the right to justice.

The direction came while hearing an appeal by a convict seeking to set aside his conviction, partly on the ground that the High Court had delayed uploading its judgment.

The bench observed that litigants and lawyers require timely access to reasoned judgments to understand rulings and take appropriate legal steps.

The appeal was ultimately dismissed, but the Court issued this cautionary note for the High Courts to deliver judgments on time.
