The Supreme Court directed the Election Committee overseeing the SCBA elections to preserve CCTV footage until further orders, following allegations of bogus voting and irregularities.
The court issued the order after some candidates raised concerns. The Court ordered that video cameras be placed in the custody of Senior Advocate Vijay Hansaria, Chair of the Election Committee.
On the issue of women’s representation, the Court clarified that its earlier judgment called for “representation,” not reservation. With three of six elected members being women, the Court held that the objective had been met.
The matter will be heard next on July 28.
