The Supreme Court declined to entertain a PIL seeking contempt proceedings against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey for his controversial remarks blaming CJI Sanjiv Khanna for all civil wars in the country.
The comment came after the court stayed the Waqf (Amendment) Act. However, a Bench comprising CJI Khanna and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar said they would pass a short, reasoned order despite rejecting the plea.
Filed by advocate Vishal Tiwari, the petition termed Dubey’s remarks were derogatory and punishable under the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971.
