SC Dismisses Plea to Consolidate Cyber Complaints in Fake Stock Market Investment Scheme Case

  • Case Name: Shailender Singh v. Union of India and ors
  • Judge(s): Justices Bela M. Trivedi and PB Varale
  • Advocate(s): Advocate Akshay Mann and AOR Sravan Kumar

The Supreme Court dismissed a writ petition seeking the transfer of multiple cyber complaints against a petitioner, allegedly a victim of a fake stock market investment scheme, to a single authority.

The petitioner claimed cybercriminals defrauded him via a fake app, stealing ₹6.65 lakh.

Following his attempts to recover funds, three cyber complaints were filed in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat.

Arguing this violated his right to life and liberty under Article 21, and also his right to fair investigation, the petitioner requested consolidation under one authority in Haryana.

The bench declined the plea under Article 32, citing lack of merit.
