SC Reserves 3 Posts for Women Lawyers in DHCBA Elections

The Supreme Court directed the reservation of 3 posts for women lawyers in the upcoming Delhi High Court Bar Association elections, under the Court’s inherent powers to ensure gender equality and representation. 

Additionally, the Court ordered the reservation of the post of Treasurer and 30% of other Executive Committee positions in district bar associations for women lawyers, The reservations will apply on an experimental basis for the upcoming elections only. 

The case arose from petitions seeking the implementation of women’s reservation in Delhi's lawyer bodies, highlighting the issue of under-representation of women in legal positions.
