Supreme Court Seeks ECI Response on Deletion of 65 Lakh Names from Bihar Voter List

The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Election Commission of India (ECI) to file a response regarding the deletion of over 65 lakh names from Bihar's electoral roll published on August 1.

The plea, filed by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) through Advocate Prashant Bhushan, seeks transparency in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.

The Bench of Justices Surya Kant, Ujjal Bhuyan, and NK Singh directed the ECI to disclose constituency-wise details and reasons for deletions.

The Court will hear the matter on August 12 alongside related petitions concerning the Bihar SIR process.
