SC Stresses Mandatory Training for Judges in Commercial Courts

The Supreme Court emphasized the need for mandatory training of Presiding Officers in commercial courts before their posting. The Court noted that untrained judges hinder effective adjudication of complex disputes under the Commercial Courts Act, 2015.

The bench heard the PIL filed by ICABA, which raised concerns about the infrastructure deficiencies and delays in resolving commercial.

The Court directed the collection of data on case lifespans, training mechanisms, and the need for additional courts and appellate benches.

It further extended this requirement to High Courts with original commercial jurisdiction, stressing timely and skilled adjudication.
