The Supreme Court said it would first hear arguments on the maintainability of the petition seeking a review of its 2022 verdict upholding the Enforcement Directorate's power to arrest, attach properties allegedly involved in money laundering, and carry out search and seizure under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
A bench of Justices Surya Kant, Ujjal Bhuyan, and N. Kotiwar Singh noted that ED proposed three preliminary issues, while the review petitioners framed 13 questions.
The court said the final question for consideration will be decided only if the review petition is found maintainable and a different viewpoint alone cannot justify substitution.
The matter has been posted for hearing on August 6.
