The Supreme Court of India will hear on April 16, 2025, a series of petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, and anti-religious conversion laws.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna will consider around 10 petitions filed by various organizations and individuals.
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) and Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind have argued that the Waqf Act amendments violate fundamental rights guaranteed under Articles 25 and 26 of the Constitution.
Additionally, the court will hear pleas challenging the anti-conversion laws of several states. The petitioners claimed these laws restrict religious freedom and privacy.
