The Supreme Court has upheld the conviction of a litigant for criminal contempt after he forged three fake interim orders of the Madras High Court to obtain a stay in a property dispute from litigant.
The Madras High Court has confirmed that the fake orders had made up case numbers, which forensic experts confirmed as false.
Despite the appellant's plea, the Court found the contempt charges proved beyond a reasonable doubt.
While affirming the High Court's findings, the Supreme Court reduced the sentence from six months to one month, citing the severity but showing leniency in punishment.
