The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has raised serious concerns about the underrepresentation of women judges in the Supreme Court and High Courts, citing it as a setback for gender diversity and justice delivery.
The resolution was adopted by the SCBA Executive Committee led by President Vikas Singh.
In a statement, the SCBA highlighted that only 11% of Supreme Court judges and 13% of High Court judges are women, urging the government and judiciary to prioritise appointments that reflect societal diversity.
The association emphasised that inclusive benches enhance judicial perspectives and public trust.
