SCBA Seeks Ban on Reel-Making & Taking Selfies by Advocates Inside Supreme Court Premises

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has passed a resolution urging a ban on reel-making and other content creation by advocates within the Supreme Court premises.

In a letter to the Secretary General, the SCBA stated that such activities undermine the dignity of the Court and constitute indirect solicitation and advertisement, both of which are prohibited under professional ethics.

The SCBA has proposed the issuance of clear guidelines banning advocates from filming, recording, taking selfies, or creating reels inside courtrooms, corridors, lobbies, and other high-security zones of the Court, except with prior permission from authorities

The Association proposed enforcement measures, including the deployment of police personnel for monitoring, issuing warning letters, suspending memberships, and filing complaints with the State Bar Council to ensure compliance and uphold institutional decorum.
