School Approaches Madras High Court Challenging Show Cause Notice Over RSS Camp

The Madras High Court issued notice to the State government and the education department on a writ petition filed by a private school in Cuddalore district, challenging a show cause notice issued for permitting an RSS-linked camp to be conducted on its campus during school holidays.

The case arose after the Directorate of School Education alleged violation of Rule 9(jj) of the Tamil Nadu Recognised Private Schools (Regulation) Rules, 1974, which prohibits the use of school premises for conducting drills or training by persons who are not students or staff.

The school contended that the camp was held during vacation, caused no disruption to academic activities, and that the rule does not apply when the institution is not functioning.
