Bombay High Court Grants Suniel Shetty Interim Relief Against AI Deepfakes & Impersonation

The Bombay High Court granted ex parte ad-interim relief to actor Suniel Shetty over unauthorised use of his persona through AI deepfakes, impersonation, and fake endorsements.

The Court held that such misuse amounts to a serious violation of his personality rights, privacy, and dignity under Article 21, as well as his moral rights under the Copyright Act, 1957.

The Court directed all social media platforms, including Meta and X Corp, to remove infringing content within a week and share details of the infringers to aid in legal action.
