Selective Recruitment Cancellation Violates Article 14: Manipur High Court
The Manipur High Court held that selectively cancelling recruitment results without strong justification violates Article 14 of the Constitution.
The case involved Dhanamanjuri University, which annulled selections for only certain subjects (Physics and Botany) citing irregularities, while retaining results for others. The Court ruled that such selective action must be backed by clear, rational reasons and cannot be arbitrary.
It emphasised that once a recruitment process is completed and results declared, it cannot be lightly overturned.
Authorities must ensure fairness, consistency, and proper verification before disturbing a concluded selection process.
