Delhi HC Orders Baba Ramdev to Remove 'Sharbat Jihad' Videos Targeting Rooh Afza

  • Case Name: Hamdard National Foundation India v. Patanjali Foods Limited & Anr

The Delhi High Court has directed Baba Ramdev to remove videos that allegedly linked Hamdard’s Rooh Afza to the term 'Sharbat Jihad'. In a video, he targeted Hamdard's Rooh Afza and claimed that Hamdard was using its money for building masjids and madrasas.

Justice Amit Bansal stated that the remarks "shocked the conscience of the court" and demanded an affidavit from Ramdev pledging not to repeat such statements.

Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Hamdard, argued that the comments amounted to hate speech, not mere product disparagement.

Senior Advocate Rajiv Nayar, representing Ramdev, assured the court that the videos would be taken down and affirmed no anti-religious intent. The matter is scheduled for further hearing on May 1.
