Shashi Tharoor Moves Delhi High Court Seeking Protection of Personality Rights

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor approached the Delhi High Court seeking protection of his personality and publicity rights against the alleged misuse of his identity through AI-generated deepfake videos and morphed online content.

Senior advocate Amit Sibal argued that fake videos showing Tharoor making politically sensitive statements, including allegedly praising Pakistan, were harming his reputation and public image.

Justice Mini Pushkarna issued summons to X, Meta, and the Centre, and indicated that interim relief would be granted.

The suit also seeks removal of unauthorised content and protection against further misuse of his name, likeness, voice, and persona online.
