SIAC Updated Arbitration Rules for 2025 to Improve Efficiency, Transparency and Certainty

The Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) Rules 2025, effective 1 January 2025, introduce significant updates to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure fairness in arbitrations.

Key changes include a groundbreaking ex parte Protective Preliminary Order (PPO) mechanism in the Emergency Arbitrator Procedure, a Streamlined Procedure for resolving disputes below $1 million, and comprehensive rules on third-party funding, requiring disclosure and addressing conflicts of interest.

A new rule on Coordinated Proceedings allows related arbitrations to align procedural aspects while remaining separate.

Updates also refine arbitrator challenge grounds and broaden case management tools, positioning SIAC as a leader in innovative arbitration practices addressing modern user needs.
