A woman Additional District Judge from Jharkhand, has approached the Supreme Court after being denied child care leave, despite being a single parent.
She has sought childcare leave from June to December as she was transferred to another place.
The matter was mentioned before Chief Justice of India BR Gavai and Justice AG Masih, who agreed to hear the case next week.
The petitioner, serving under the Jharkhand High Court’s jurisdiction, claims that the denial of leave affects her ability to balance judicial duties with parental responsibilities.
The case highlights the need for supportive workplace policies like child care leave, especially for working mothers in the judiciary.
