SP MLA Abu Azmi Moves Bombay High Court For Quashing of FIRs Over His Aurangzeb Remarks

Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi has approached the Bombay High Court seeking to quash FIRs filed against him for praising Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb during a media interaction on March 3

The FIRs, lodged at Thane and Marine Drive in early June, allege deliberate acts intended to outrage religious sentiments under Sections 299, 302, 356(1), and 356(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

Azmi, currently on anticipatory bail, has filed petitions arguing that the FIRs are politically motivated and lack evidence of malice or intent to provoke.

The bench has scheduled the next hearing after four weeks.
