Srinagar Court Summons Designers & Elle India Over Controversial Gulmarg Fashion Show During Ramadan

The Srinagar court issued notice to directors of luxury fashion brand Shivan and Narresh and the Editor-in-Chief of Elle India Magazine on a controversial fashion show in Gulmarg.

Adil Nazir Khan filed the complaint through Adv. Naveed Bukhtiyar. The complaint alleges obscenity and religious insensitivity in the event, citing public alcohol consumption under Section 50A of the Jammu and Kashmir Excise Act, 1958.

 The court said it is mandatory to hear the accused in terms of Section 223(1) of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita(BNSS).

J&K CM Abdullah called the event 'a disregard for local sensitivities' and asked for a report to be submitted within the next 24 hours.
