Sunetra Pawar becomes Maharashtra’s First Woman Deputy CM

Sunetra Pawar was sworn in as Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, becoming the first woman to hold the post, just three days after the death of her husband, Ajit Pawar, in a plane crash.

The oath was administered by the Governor at Lok Bhavan, in the presence of CM Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde.

The NCP formally elected her as its legislature party leader ahead of the ceremony.

A Rajya Sabha MP and former social worker, Sunetra Pawar’s elevation marks a historic moment, unfolding amid personal tragedy and political transition in the state.
