Centre Withdraws Blocking Order Against '4 PM' YouTube Channel, Supreme Court Told

The Supreme Court was informed that the Central government has withdrawn its order blocking the YouTube channel of 4 PM News.

The petition, filed by the channel's Editor Sanjay Sharma, challenged the order citing violations of Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and Articles 14 and 19(1)(a) of the Constitution.

The plea argued that no reasoned order or hearing was provided, and vague references to “national security” and “public order” violated free speech rights.

The plea also challenged Rules 8, 9, and 16 of the IT Blocking Rules, 2009, as unconstitutional, and the Court has agreed to keep the petition pending for further consideration.
