SC Adjourns Bail Pleas of Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam and Others in Delhi Riots Conspiracy Case Till Sep 22

The Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing of bail applications for Umar Khalid, along with Sharjeel Imam, Meeran Haider, Gulfisha Fatima, and Shifa Ur Rehman, in connection with the Delhi riots larger conspiracy case, until September 22.

The petitions were listed before a bench comprising Justice Aravind Kumar and Justice Manmohan. The petitions challenge the order of the Delhi High Court that dismissed their bail applications.

The accused are student activists who were at the forefront in protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act in 2019-2020 and are facing charges against the relevant sections of the UAPA and IPC for formulating a "larger conspiracy" in the 2020 Delhi riots.
