The Supreme Court has adjourned the Delhi air pollution matter till November 17, directing the States of Punjab and Haryana to submit reports on the steps taken to control stubble burning.
The bench led by CJI BR Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran noted worsening AQI levels but declined the amicus curiae’s plea for an urgent hearing.
The Court was informed that some farmers were deliberately delaying stubble burning to avoid satellite tracking, which the amicus described as “alarming.” The bench will review the States’ status reports at the next hearing.
