The Supreme Court has ruled that the 2022 civil judge recruitment process in Madhya Pradesh can proceed without the new eligibility conditions of three years of practice or 70% marks in LL.B.
A bench of Justices P.S. Narasimha and A.S. Chandurkar set aside a Madhya Pradesh High Court order.
The new eligibility rules were introduced through an amendment to the Madhya Pradesh Judicial Service Rules, 1994, on June 23, 2023.
The Court clarified that these rules cannot retroactively affect the recruitment process that began in 2022.
