Supreme Court Allows NGO to Seek Centre’s Nod for Yemen Visit in Nimisha Priya Case

The Supreme Court has permitted the Save Nimisha Priya International Action Council to approach the Centre for clearance to travel to Yemen.

The group aims to negotiate a pardon under Sharia law for Nimisha Priya, a Kerala nurse facing execution for the 2017 murder of a Yemeni national.

Her execution, earlier set for July 16, has been stayed. The organisation plans to send members and a religious leader to meet the victim’s family. The Centre cited a travel ban to Yemen but assured it is making efforts. The case will be heard again on August 14.
