Supreme Court Allows Whistleblower to Join Contempt Case Against BJP MLA for Contacting Judge

The Supreme Court permitted a whistleblower to approach the Madhya Pradesh High Court to assist in suo motu criminal contempt proceedings against BJP MLA Sanjay Satyendra Pathak.

The case originated when Justice Vishal Mishra recused himself from a mining-related matter, recording that the legislator had attempted to contact him for a discussion.

While the High Court had already initiated contempt action, the petitioner challenged the disposal of his original writ petition.

The Court observed that the alleged conduct must be taken to task through established legal processes but warned against using the court for political mileage.
