Supreme Court Appoints Former CJI DY Chandrachud to Mediate Kapur Family Estate Dispute

The Supreme Court appointed former Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud as mediator to resolve the ongoing dispute between Rani Kapur and Priya Kapur over the estate and family trust of late businessman Sunjay Kapur.

A Bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and Ujjal Bhuyan referred the matter to mediation after both parties consented, stressing that family disputes should be resolved amicably rather than through prolonged litigation.

The Court also advised the parties to refrain from public comments and social media statements.

The dispute concerns the alleged fraudulent creation and control of the Rani Kapur Family Trust, reportedly linked to assets worth around ₹30,000 crore.
