The Supreme Court observed that The Bar Council of India(BCI) should refrain from interfering in matters of legal education, and leave such aspects to academicians & jurists.
The court stated while dismissing the BCI’s challenge to a Kerala High Court that allowing two convicted men to pursue legal education online from jail.
The court directed that two applicants be allowed to attend law courses online also they could be released if physical presence required for practical training.
Furthermore, the court said that the prisoners' right to education is a human right grounded in the right to dignity, noting that legal education should be left to academicians & jurists.
