Supreme Court Introduces Reservation Policy For SC/ST in Its Staff Recruitment for the First Time

For the first time, the Supreme Court has formalised reservations for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in its staff hiring and promotions.

The employees were informed through a circular dated June 24, 2025, that a Model Reservation Roster has been made effective June 23. This policy was issued for the first time during the tenure of CJI BR Gavai.

Under this policy, Court staff, including registrars, senior personal assistants, assistant librarians, junior court assistants, and chamber attendants, are now entitled to a 15% quota for SCs and 7.5% for STs.

It also stated that Staff members may raise objections about mistakes or inaccuracies in the roster or register with the Registrar (Recruitment).
