Supreme Court Cancels Bail of Karnataka MLA Vinay Kulkarni in 2016 BJP Worker Murder Case

The Supreme Court of India cancelled the bail of Congress MLA and former Karnataka minister Vinay Kulkarni, who is an accused in the 2016 murder of BJP zilla panchayat member Yogesh Gowda.

The Court found credible evidence suggesting Kulkarni attempted to contact or influence witnesses, violating his bail conditions. Consequently, the bench directed Kulkarni to surrender before the trial court or jail authorities within one week.

The Court also clarified that trial courts have the authority to cancel bail granted by higher courts if conditions are breached, referencing the precedent set in Gurcharan Singh v. State (Delhi Administration).
