Supreme Court Clarifies No Need to Publish Entire Environmental Clearance in the Newspaper

The Supreme Court clarified that project proponents are not required to publish the entire Environmental Clearance (EC) in local newspapers. 

The Court observed that it is sufficient to indicate the grant along with the key conditions and safeguards. 

The Bench upheld the NGT’s dismissal of Talli Gram Panchayat’s challenge to Ultratech Cement’s limestone mining EC in Gujarat, emphasising that the limitation period begins from the earliest public disclosure of the EC, whether via the official website, newspaper, or authorised communication.
