Supreme Court Slams Trend of Scandalous Allegations Against Judges

The Supreme Court voiced concern over the growing tendency of litigants and lawyers to make scandalous allegations against judges after receiving unfavourable orders.

A bench of Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice K. Vinod Chandran made the remarks while hearing a contempt case against a petitioner and two advocates who had made derogatory comments about Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya of the Telangana High Court.

Accepting their unconditional apology, the Court closed the contempt proceedings but warned that such behaviour undermines public confidence in the judiciary and must be firmly discouraged.
