Supreme Court Collegium Recommends 9 Advocates for Appointment as Calcutta High Court Judges

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of nine advocates as judges of the Calcutta High Court. The recommendations were finalised during Collegium meetings held on May 11 and 12.

The move is aimed at addressing vacancies and strengthening the judicial functioning of the High Court.

The Collegium, headed by the Chief Justice of India, evaluates factors such as merit, integrity, professional standing, and representation while recommending appointments to constitutional courts.

The recommendations will now be processed by the Central Government for further consideration and formal appointment.
