Supreme Court Declines to Entertain Plea on ‘Jana Nayagan’ Release, Directs Producers to Madras High Court

The Supreme Court of India refused to entertain a plea filed by the producers of Jana Nayagan seeking directions for the film’s release and asked them to pursue relief before the Madras High Court.

The plea arose after the film’s release was postponed following issues relating to the grant of a censor certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification.

The Supreme Court noted that the matter is already pending before a Division Bench of the Madras High Court and directed the producers to await its decision.

The High Court is scheduled to hear the matter on January 21.
