Supreme Court Declines to Hear Plea Seeking Use of Only Indigenous Cow Milk For Worship at Tirumala Temple

  • Case Name: Yuga Thulasi Foundation v. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD)

The Supreme Court refused to entertain a writ petition demanding that the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) use only indigenous cow milk for worship at the Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala.

A bench of Justices M.M. Sundresh and N. Kotiswar Singh expressed its reluctance to hear the matter, prompting the petitioner’s counsel to withdraw the plea. However, the Court granted liberty to approach the High Court instead.

During the brief hearing, Justice Sundresh remarked, “A cow is a cow,” in response to arguments based on Agamashastra classifications. He added, “The classification is only for human beings based on language, religion, caste, community, state, etc. It's all for us! God is the same for everybody, human beings and others also.
