The Supreme Court declined to quash the FIR lodged against Bhojpuri singer and activist Neha Singh Rathore over her social media posts concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Bihar elections, and Hindu-Muslim politics.
The Bench observed that it was not inclined to interfere at this stage but granted liberty to Rathore to raise all permissible objections before the trial court.
The FIR alleged that her posts suggested the Prime Minister’s visit to Bihar was aimed at invoking nationalist sentiments by referring to Pakistan to secure electoral gains and that the BJP sought to polarise voters on communal and cross-border issues.
