The Supreme Court has held that Indian citizens with foreign medical degrees are entitled to stipend during internship at par with Indian medical graduates.
Observing that students cannot be discriminated against merely for studying abroad, the Court directed concerned medical colleges to pay the balance stipend within the stipulated period.
It clarified that no adverse action shall be taken by regulatory authorities for complying with the Court’s directions.
The ruling reinforces the principle of equal treatment and non-discrimination in medical education and training.
