Supreme Court Directs Mother Tongue-Based Education in All Government and Private Schools

The Supreme Court has directed the Rajasthan government to implement mother tongue-based education by introducing Rajasthani as a subject in all government and private schools across the state.

The Court observed that education in one’s mother tongue is closely linked to constitutional and educational rights, particularly under the framework of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

It directed the State to formulate a phased policy for introducing the language at different educational levels and submit a compliance report within the prescribed timeline.
