Supreme Court Directs Relaxation of 3-Year Practice Rule for Chattisgarh Civil Judge Examination

The Supreme Court has held that candidates for the Chhattisgarh Civil Judge examination cannot be disqualified on the grounds of not having three years of practice as an advocate, provided the recruitment notification was released before the Court's ruling which made such practice necessary across India.

The petition was filed by aspiring candidates challenging the condition introduced through the recruitment notification released in December, 2024.

By way of an interim order, the Court ordered the Chattisgarh Public Service Commission to allow the candidates to sit for the examination.
