Supreme Court Directs Union To File Affidavits On Central Mental Health Authority

The Supreme Court asked the Union Government to file a detailed affidavit indicating establishment and functioning of the Central Mental Health Authority, State Mental Health Authority, and Mental Health Review Board under the Mental Healthcare Act, of 2017.

The order passed in a writ petition filed under Article 32, which sought specific directions concerning individual in need of mental healthcare.

The court ordered that the Union Government shall file detail affidavit and include information on the statutory and mandatory appointments within the authorities and the review board.

The court said, the affidavit may be filed by 06.03.2025 and will hear the matter on March 21.
