Supreme Court Discusses Chemical Castration for Rapists and Pornography Issue

The Supreme Court case involves a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by the Supreme Court Women Lawyers Association seeking chemical castration for rapists and a ban on free online pornography. This plea is linked to the RG Kar rape and murder case, which has drawn significant public attention. 

The petition cites the 2012 Nirbhaya case to urge stricter laws, including chemical castration for repeat offenders, and calls for national guidelines to address rising sexual violence and the impact of online pornography.

The bench has requested responses from the government and will consider the petition further in January 2025, seeking to evaluate existing laws and their implementation effectiveness.
