Supreme Court Dismisses Challenge to ₹229 Crore Jetty Near Gateway of India

The Supreme Court dismissed an appeal against the ₹229 crore passenger jetty and terminal project near Mumbai’s Gateway of India.

A Bench of CJI BR Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran upheld the Bombay High Court’s July 15 order, which had cleared the project subject to conditions like restricting the amphitheatre to seating use only, limiting the café to water and packed food, and requiring phased discontinuation of the existing jetty.

Rejecting the plea, the Court noted that the policy decision benefits the larger Mumbai population and refused to intervene.
