The Supreme Court has dismissed actress Jacqueline Fernandez’s plea to quash a ₹215-crore money laundering case linked to conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, directing her to face trial.
Upholding the Delhi High Court’s earlier refusal to intervene, the bench noted allegations that Fernandez received luxury gifts worth ₹7 crore while being aware of Chandrashekhar’s criminal background. Her counsel contended she was unaware and was merely a recipient of gifts.
The Court cited the Vijay Madanlal Choudhary judgment, emphasising that charges cannot be preemptively dismissed, while granting her liberty to approach the court at a later stage if needed.
